The Weatherman Legacy

PCI’s history began in 1972. That’s when Bob Steinberger installed communications equipment in the vehicles of legendary racers Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans.

Then, at the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger created a successful radio relay using weather balloons and hundreds of feet of coax. The achievement helped establish the legendary “Weatherman” name in off-road race communications.

Today, Bob’s legacy continues through his son, Scott Steinberger. An accomplished off-road racer himself, Scott carries on the Weatherman tradition and PCI’s commitment to race communication and support.
